Venue Spotlight – Second Self Beer Co.

Breweries have been all the rage ever since the beer laws in Georgia changed back in 2017 allowing breweries to sell beer directly to their consumers without strict limitations. Before the bill passed, breweries had to sell tickets for tasting tours and customers couldn’t simply come in to grab a beer and casually hang out with friends. With the new laws comes new breweries springing up all around the Atlanta area making them the new hot spots to spend weekends and to host events.

In this series, we will be highlighting some Metro Atlanta breweries and diving deeper into what makes them so special. Breweries have become more than just a place to drink beer and watch sporting events, they have now turned into the trendy places to host weddings, birthdays, corporate meetings and happy hours, fundraisers and so much more!

With so many options, it can be overwhelming to decide which brewery is the perfect fit for you, your schedule or your future event. Each brewery has a totally different feel, while some are dog friendly, others are more family focused and some are better suited for a younger crowd. Luckily, we are here to break down what makes each brewery special, making your decision that much easier.

So, whether you are on the lookout for an event venue, new to the Atlanta area, visiting a friend, or just want to stray away from your typical bar scene this series will help guide you through some of the best breweries around the city of Atlanta. About the Second Self Beer Co.

Second self is located in West Midtown and was started by two friends, Chris Doyle and Jason Santamaria, both Georgia Tech Graduates, with a passion for beer. Their motto is “sip into your second self,” which is what they did when they escaped their corporate lives and made their true dreams a reality by opening Second Self in 2014.

Second Self offers a modern industrial feel, with a wood bar serving their many distinctive beers on draft. Second Self is a nationally recognized brewery, partly because of their use of fresh ingredients and their suggested food pairings that accompany each beer. Some of their beers include: Thai Wheat, a flagship American Wheat flavored with fresh lemon and ginger, Mai Thai, a pineapple, pomegranate and orange flavored sour ale and Dad Made Breakfast, a vegan coffee breakfast stout. Although their beer is the main star of the show, the brewery offers more than just brews. Second Self has a widespread variety of games onsite, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy. Second Self is kid and dog friendly, so ditch the sitter and pop on over to Second Self, you won’t be disappointed!

The Event Spaces

Second Self Beer Company has two private event spaces available for rent. The Tap Room, which can hold up to 200 guests and the Brew House, which has space for up to 100 guests. Including their outdoor space, the brewery can hold up to 350+ people! In the past, we have hosted wedding receptions, birthday parties, fundraisers, corporate events and networking events. Here are three unique attributes that make their brewery so special:

• Second Self offers a variety of games for guests to play. This is a great feature for events that may have younger children around. They offer foosball, ping pong, corn hole, video games and board games. It is safe to say that your guests will never get bored!
• Second Self is located in a trendy West Midtown area, surrounded by many other breweries and restaurants. With the abundance of breweries around Second Self, guests can create their own walking beer tour and check out all of the breweries close by. This makes for a fun weekend activity!
• Although Second Self has a large beer selection, and that’s their main focus, they also offer multiple other beverages as well. They recently began serving hard cider, Rudi’s hard seltzer, CBD water and they have more beverages on the way. Second Self recognizes the fact that not everyone is a beer drinker. They are working on making their brewery a place where everyone can sip on a beverage they enjoy!
